There's no supernatural power to make this world a better place. It's up to us.
The CNY Humanist Association is a proud member of the Beyond Belief Network and we support various local charities through volunteering, fund drives, and community service events. Check out our current projects below and get involved!
#HumanistsCare Foundation Beyond Belief Fundraiser
The CNY Humanists have joined the call in support of Foundation Beyond Belief! Foundation Beyond Belief demonstrates humanism at its best by supporting efforts to improve this world and this life, and to challenge humanists to embody the highest principles of humanism, including mutual care and responsibility. Please help us reach our goal of $1,000!
Food Bank of CNY Food Drive & Fundraiser
We are currently working to support the hunger-relief mission of the Food Bank of Central New York. The Food Bank of Central New York is a not-for-profit organization that works to eliminate hunger through nutritious food distribution, education, and advocacy in cooperation with the community. There are two ways you can help!
- Bring a non-perishable food item or items to any of our events through December. All non-perishable food items are appreciated, but here is a list of items that are particularly needed.
- Participate in our Virtual Food Drive. This option gets you even more bang for your buck! Because the FBCNY can acquire food on such a large scale — more than 16 million pounds each year — they can achieve savings that the average shopper cannot. That means, for every dollar donated to the Food Bank, they are able to supply enough food for 3.5 meals to our hungry neighbors.
Thank you for joining us in helping our community!
Light the Night Walk
On September 18, 2014, we participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night event as part of the national Foundation Beyond Belief team, which has raised almost a million dollars for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society since 2012. We raised over $1000 to fund research, therapies, and support for people with cancer everywhere, including here in Central New York. Thank you to everyone who walked, raised money, donated, and "shared" the event!
