The CNY Humanists have been having park cleanups in Syracuse to celebrate Earth Day annually since 2015. Now we’re ready to really commit—we are officially Adopting a Trail!

The trail we are adopting will be familiar to anyone who has joined us for our Creekwalk Cleanups since the pandemic. We are adopting a little over a half mile of the Onondaga Creekwalk, from Onondaga Lake to south of Hiawatha Blvd.

This is a great way to get outside, make new friends, make Syracuse more beautiful and inviting, support the community, and be active!

If you have a CNYHA t-shirt, wear it! If you don’t, we’ll give you one!

Please note! We’ll meet in the Solar Street parking lot near Destiny, in the westernmost corner (at the red star on the map below.

***A few reminders from our trail work coordinator, Matt:

- The parks department will supply disposable gloves, garbage bags, trash grabbers, and a few loppers. If you have work gloves and/or trash grabbers (theirs are like big wooden tongs), please bring them!

- PLEASE BRING A WATER BOTTLE WITH YOU! I don't promote single-use beverage containers, so please bring a refillable water bottle. I'll have a couple of big jugs of drinking water on hand.

- It's suggested to wear closed-toe shoes, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

- Family & friends, including kids, are welcome to participate with us! Any minors are the responsibility of the adults who brought them. It's probably not a great event to bring any four-legged friends to, but if you need to, go for it. Service/support pets are always welcome.

- If you require bug spray or sunscreen, please bring some.

- Consider bringing some snacks for you and those in your party. Picking up litter is hard work, so remember to fuel your body!

-Anyone who wants to can come with the group to Meier's Creek Brewing Company near the trail for refreshment afterward!***
