The CNYHA is starting 2017 with a food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Central New York.
According to the Food Bank's website, there has been a change in the demographic they serve.
These days the face of hunger includes a family where the adults are employed but cannot make ends meet, a child who sits next to your child in school and goes to bed hungry, and an elderly neighbor who skips meals to afford medication. This is where Food Bank of Central New York steps in.
The organization distributes 29,915 meals to Central and Northern New York every day.
The CNYHA have made it our goal to raise 1000 meals between January and the end of April, 2017, and we need your help!
3 Ways to Help
Because the Food Bank is able to purchase large numbers of items at wholesale, a gift made through the virtual food drive will double or even triple the amount of items your dollar can purchase at a regular grocery store. Every dollar raised through this virtual food drive will be used to buy nutritious food for our hungry neighbors.
2. Bring a non-perishable item or items to any of our events through the end of April
Here is a list of items that are particularly in need: http://foodbankcny.org/assets/Uploads/PreferredFoodsList.pdf
3. Share this blog post with your friends!
