The CNY Humanists have been having park cleanups in Syracuse to celebrate Earth Day annually since 2015. Now we’re ready to really commit—we are officially Adopting a Trail!
The trail we are adopting will be familiar to anyone who has joined us for our Creekwalk Cleanups since the pandemic. We are adopting a little over a half mile of the Onondaga Creekwalk, from Onondaga Lake to south of Hiawatha Blvd.
This is a great way to get outside, make new friends, make Syracuse more beautiful and inviting, support the community, and be active!
We’ll meet in the Solar Street parking lot near Destiny, in the westernmost corner (at the red star above).
Three times a year, we will be working on our section.
The dates for this year are :
THIS SUNDAY, June 29, 10-1
Saturday, August 9
Saturday, September 13
Our jobs will include:
Litter picking
Vine clearing on Hiawatha Blvd fence line
Cutting back trees and vines leaning into the trail
Cutting back vegetation at lake lounge (A1 0.0)
Cleaning out sediment from the shoreline at lake lounge
Cleaning around the benches and trashcans from A1-A2
Leaf collection in Fall
If you have a CNYHA t-shirt, wear it! If you don’t, we’ll give you one!
