Democracy is alive and well in the CNYHA!

This June, at the Summer Potlouck, we will have 4 CNYHA Board positions up for election. Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and a Board Member At-Large position.

First of all, we want as many members to vote as possible! No voter ID required, we will issue no tests to you before voting, and there will be no poll tax. There are no geographic lines for people to argue about. You can even vote by email if you wish.

Secondly, please consider if you’d like to run for these positions. Do you like what we do and want to get more involved? Maybe you have ideas on new things we could do? Our group thrives with more diverse voices involved, so if you’re interested, please contact cnyhumanists@gmail.com with the position(s) you may. be interested in by May 24th.

These are the descriptions of the open positions:

Vice President

-Acts as the head of the board of directors when the president is not able to perform the necessary duties.

-Stays as informed as the president in all affairs of the local group.

-Works closely with committee heads on their day-to-day operations.

-Takes on special tasks and duties as defined by the president.

Secretary

-Maintains the core documents of the group and other papers necessary for the running of the group. This includes records of speakers, meetings, and events.

-Ensures that the bylaws are being followed in group operations.

Treasurer

-Responsible for the funds of the group. This includes receiving and (if necessary) providing receipts for membership dues and other donations, depositing income into the group's bank account, paying bills and any debts, and maintaining records of funds status.

-Keeps the rest of the board of directors up to date on the group's financial status.

-Files with IRS.

Board Member at Large

Performs duties assigned by the President with Board Approval.
